245 _aPressure and Thermal Effects in Liquid Metal Due to Collapse of External Magnetic Field
300 _a1053-1061 p.
520 _aThe equations under the MHD approximation show that a non-uniform magnetic field induces a pressure gradient and a current in a conducting liquid. The pressure difference and the change of temperature created due to the collapse of an external magnetic field are assessed. Considerable values of these effects lead to the conclusion that the effects in question can be of importance for future nuclear fusion power plants, where a liquid metal is a possible coolant.
